WHY I WRITE ROMANCE

ALWAYS 2 - HIGH RESWhile you enjoy the terrific-looking guy on the cover of my book, Always, I’ll tell you why I write romance. I just love the couple thing.

There. That’s it. I think the interaction between to romantic partners is the most fascinating, fulfilling aspects of life. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from both the good and bad times in my marriage. I think I’m a better person and so is he.

The challenge in writing romance is to put the sizzle and frustration, the laughter and the hot, hot, hot moments down in a believable, compelling manner. When I read romantic fiction, I disappear into the story. I lose awareness of time and place–I don’t think. Yes, some things tickle me or prompt me to pause, but I’m not reading a textbook. Frankly, textbooks bore me.

I’ve always loved words–I can be racing through a book and get snared on an unexpected word choice. I love words. I spent the better part of my youth haunting libraries. Add in a compelling love story and I’m hooked. I write romance because it’s the most fascinating thing ever.
